Went to get some of the purple stuff the other day and the guy told me to use auto-trans fluid. I was very reluctant to believe that and thought I would ask the experts It's going in a 4sp. toploader What do you think ?? Thanks sodi.

I would never put trans fluid in a TL tranny. Unless it was my final race and it was all I had to use. Auto-trans fluid may be OK for a modern tranny but not a trusty old TopLoader. I wore my last one out quickly using lighweight oils. This one gets 80W 140 SYnthetic blend. ------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.86 @ 116 mph (7.62 @ 93 mph)daily driver! If it's a mostly street car I would use the 85w RP gear oil.
