Okay guys, might have a line on some C302 heads to attach to my Aussie Falcon GT replica, and was wondering what intake and headers can be made to work with them? How close are 4V bits to fitting? I've got a big tub of devcon and a grinder if i need to alter normal intake manifolds.

C302 heads have taller and narrower intake ports, with raised floors.
You'd need to do a lot of work on a 4V intake manifold to match and,
even then, you might not be able to raise the roof enough without welding
on the outside. C302B intakes are still available new (Edelbrock Victor
AH-II) and used ones show up on Ebay from time-to-time. You have to be
careful when buying high port intakes as Ford sometimes assigned the same
part number (different years) to high port and Yates intakes and 9.5"
versions (with different part numbers) could be milled to fit 9.2" deck
blocks. The intakes that will fit a 9.2" deck Cleveland with C302 heads
include:

1. M-9424-A331 by Roush. Single plane air gap. A 351C only intake.
No waterneck and the rear intake end seal area is shaped for a 351C only.
All the other C302B intakes listed below have a rear seal area that is
shaped to fit either a Windsor/SVO or a Cleveland block (must be
trimmed to fit the Cleveland). Don't confuse the Roush A331 with the
A331 by Edelbrock which has larger A3 sized ports.

2. M-9424-B351 by Roush. Single plane air gap. No waterneck but the
rear seal area is shaped for both 351C and 9.2" deck SVO blocks which
have the Windsor style rear intake end seal. Otherwise, looks very much
like an A331. Many intakes that started as A351's have

3. M-9424-D351 by Edelbrock. Has Windsor style waterneck and dual rear
seal area. Looks different from the A331 and B351 with a thin carb
flange.

4. Edelbrock Victor AH-II. Has Windsor style waterneck and dual rear
seal area. Last I checked, it was still in production, though you may
have to wait to get one as they are made on an infrequent basis.

5. M-9424-E351 Yates intake. The early C3L Yates intakes will bolt
up and the ports are fairly close (biased forward) and can be port
matched.

There are also Australian intakes (TFC, CHI, Parker Funnelweb, etc.) that
might be a closer port match. If you can't find a C302B intake locally
to check, you might want to order a set of Fel Pro C302B intake manifold
gaskets and bolt them up to a 4V intake. That will illustrate how much
work would need to be done to a 4V intake. The exhaust ports are raised,
shaped differently, and have a different bolt pattern than 4V's. Be aware
there were two different exhaust bolt patterns for high port heads.
Pre-'85 Phase heads had the top row of bolts about a bolt diameter lower
than later heads.

A couple of other things to know. They high port heads use Motorcraft
AG-series spark plugs (14 mm, 3/4 inch reach) with gasket. Also, the
heads are cast with combustion face and front and rear coolant outlets
to allow use on 351W and 351C blocks. Pipe plugs are provided to seal
openings as needed. On Clevelands, install pipe plug in holes on the
ends of the heads.
