I have a this motor and don't know what kind of heads to get the origanls were swaped with 2v C heads. Is there anyone out there that has rebuilt a 351c cobra jet motor? I am going to put this in my 1969 mustang.

The engine in my '67 is a '73 351 CJ. I replaced the heads with Boss 351 heads. The original CJ heads are still in my basement. They ore open chamber heads w thi 4V intake and exhaust port sizes but, the valves are 2V size. If you need more info e-mail me [email protected]

Unless you are going with pop up pistons, a set of closed chambers 4Vs would work better.------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 408C 4V, best time to date is 10.50 @ 125mph

Cobrajet Clevelands have low compression. If you want to use CJ heads, you should use pop up pistons to get workable compression. If you want to used flat tops, use closed chambers to get the compression. I prefer closed chambers, myself, but pop ups pistons with open chambers will work well also. I don't really care for 2V heads unless it's strictly street and driven a lot. Even then, I like 4Vs..........but I'm kind of wierd like that. ------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 408C 4V, best time to date is 10.50 @ 125mph

I have a little cleveland exeriance , so do some other folks here.If you use open chambered heads, zero deck the block, and cut (flat mill) about .050-.060 off the heads. That will get the cc's down to 65-67 cc's. That with the zero deck will give decent quench and have better flame travel than open heads with domed pistons. And, the compression will be within half a point of closed chamber heads AND it will have a little better low lift flow due to the valves being unshrouded better in the open heads. I like 4v heads too, but I feel for a hot street car that 2v heads are better, especially if it is street driven a lot. By the way, welcome to M&M. ------------------ Rob Hetzler member #773 '69 mustang, 351C, best 9.97 @ 133 mph 1/4, 6.18 @ 110.4 1/8 (til it blew up) '70 mustang,351W powered (KK's racecar) '93 F150 Lightning 15.33 @ 87 mph, completely stock with 187k miles '60 Falcon wagon project car '99 Pro Et track champion '00 Mod ET R-up (with new car) My Photo Page

SO IF I GO WITH AN AFTER MARKET HEAD FROM SUMMIT I SHOULD LOOK FOR A OPEN CHAMBER HEAD. AND GET POP UP PISTON TO GET A BETTER CCOMPRESSION.

Scummit does not sell aftermarket heads for clevelands. They don't need them. Factory cleveland heads flow as well if not better than about 80% of the aftermarket small block heads available.

SO SHOULD I KEEP MY 2V HEADS AND BUY DOME/FLAT TOP PISTONS DEPENDING IF ITS OPEN/CLOSED CHAMBERED HEADS.
