Today I fired up my new bullet today, 331 stroker, Of course it developed an oil leak, and I have checked everything, The oil is leaking between the welds on my Headers right where the tubes are welded into the collector. I have Mac longtube headers. We pulled the plugs out because we thought maybe the guides or the rings were not sealing, but no oil on the plugs...so then we did a compression test, it came up real good, The intake isnt leaking, the valve covers are not leaking also...Does anybody have any ideas what could be goin on.. thanx..

ummmmmm, sounds like a weird one!! did you silicone the bottom head bolts? of course i think that would only cause a water leak. just grasping for straws here.
good luck

Sounds like your saying there is an internal leak thats leaking oil into your exhaust.

Perhaps an exhaust valve guide is leaking, the oil is getting into the exhaust ports and running down into the pipes. Perhaps if you took the header off you could see if its just one port thats wet, or all 4 on that bank. Maybe a valve guide is missing a seal or something? Is it a lot of oil? Do you get any blue smoke? Are you using new or rebuilt heads? Did you do any porting work or are they as cast?

More questions than answers, but there are not too many places that unburned oil can come from in your exhaust.

I put thread sealer on all my head bolts. that would only be a water problem not a oil problem..

We were thinking it was a guide or a valve stem seal, but I new seals on the heads, and if was either of the 2 it would show oil on the spark plugs. No oil on the spark plugs We even pulled the x-pipe off the header and looked inside the collector, and you dont see any oil in the collector. The car is smoking but thats because of the oil drippin off the headers...The oil just drips off the header like a slow leaky faucet. I didnt have any port work done to the heads.

Check the header bolts for your source of dripping.
