I have mine wedged in the fuse box in between a fuse and its holder. Currently am installing a fuel pump relay kit and would rather have it more solid. Just trying to get an idea where others have wired in their pumps. In the fuse block there is an empty one that is marked for accesories. Thing is you can't put a fuse in it, it just has the clips for one end of a fuse, could I squeeze something in there? thanks[This message has been edited by torino420 (edited 06-03-2004).]

I guess you could, but it'd probably be smarter to tap directly off the battery with a relayed circuit, ignition switched. That way you're not trying to draw high amperage through a 40 year old wiring harness ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

On dads car, we have the power wire coming off the back of the ignition switch, into a toggle switch, and then to the pump. This was you only have power to the pump with the key turned in the on poition.

Here's what I have so far. The relay has four wires. Relay is mounted in the trunk, as it's supposed to be near the fuel pump. 1) ground 2) fuel pump wire 3) battery wire - will be connected directly to the battery or battery side of the starter solenoid both of which are in the trunk. 4) "switched" lead I have run up front where i need to tap into the ignition switch some how. Hopefully get that done tonight. Short of running it back to the fuse box, I guess I need to find a wire coming off the ignition to tap into? Thanks for the thoughts, any more are appreciated.[This message has been edited by torino420 (edited 06-04-2004).]

I found a wire under the dash that had juice only when the key is on and tapped into it. Boy what a difference a relay makes for a fuel pump.------------------ 69 Torino GT Hardtop 420" Windsor

I ran mine to the small "i" post on the solenoid. Engine started for the first time tonight but somethings not right. Car won't start without throttle mashed to the floor and once started runs like crap down low without working the throttle. Up past 3k it runs better and past 4 it sounds good. Multimeter shows 11.5 volts at the "i" post when it's running up high. don

Sounds like too much fuel pressure to me. Look in the carb while its running and see if the gas is pouring in.If you haven't got a regulator on it, you'll need one. If you have one turn down the pressure a bit. I seem to recall 7 pounds or so max on a Holley. Don't know for positive sure about that exact number. ------------------ 63 Falcon 377 Cleveland stroker Flying Toilet alchohol injection. 6.19 @ 110 MPH 1/8 mile 2002 Ranger FX4 daily driver 2000 F350 PSD Crew cab dually - Like commuting in a B52!! 98 US Cargo Phantom II 28'
