Is it necessary to replace the tailshaft bushing when installing a new slip yoke, so they wear together? Tranny is a T5. Thanks.

Mark Williams Enterprises makes a really strong C4/Toploader slipyoke.

After twisting the splines in several Spicer units, I stepped up to one of these, and all my problems disappeared!

Around 10 years ago, it cost $170. Plus it takes 1-ton truck #1350 u-joints... so you'll have to get your driveshaft modified or make a new one.

It's not necessary to replace the bushing unless it's worn, but it is a good idea to replace the bushing if you have the tailshaft housing off. See if the yoke fits nice and snug without any sideways movement. If you can feel any movement, it needs replaced.

C4 and small output toploaders use the same bushing.

Good Luck!

All their stuff is TOP quality. It's the stuff the pros use.

I'm sure the stuff Alex recommended is as well. (Victory is a small, racer oriented company that makes mega top-end valves for race engines) It would be nice to support the little guy, it just might cost a bit more.

Good Luck!

Mark WIlliams sells only very high quality componants. Good sh*t!
I don't like any of their rear end stuff though as they tie you into themselves. NOTHING interchanges with MW rear end componants. Everything is unique to them.
Bearings, splines, etc.

That's what I have in my car. It's a nice piece, but it wasn't cheap.
