Hi Guys, I just bought an Aussie XY Falcon GT (replica), and its got a Shaker... but it sits a little low... however, this is cos it doesn't have the 351C 4V and associated bits under it... Anyway, its supposed to have a D1ZZ9424G intake on it (if it were a real one...). My Question is, Are there any manifolds that are better that won't make the shaker sit taller than it would with the D1ZZ9424G?Thanks Guys Ben

Can you mount a carb spacer or a spacer between the carb and air cleaner asm to arrive at the correct height?

Well, I don't have the D1ZZ9424G (same as a 351C Performer 4V perhaps?) in my car, i've got some other manifold... but I'm planning ahead for tweaking it up a bit... so i'm looking for a better manifold thats NOT taller than the D1ZZ9424G?

My Question is, Are there any manifolds that are better that > won't make the shaker sit taller than it would with the D1ZZ9424G?My guess is the D1ZZ9424G is the equivalent of our Boss 351 intake with whatever carb pattern the Aussie XY Falcon GT came with. We had Holley pattern intakes and Motorcraft 4300D spreadbore patterns. The Performer 4V intake is practically the same height and carb cant angle as the stock Ford dual plane but I wouldn't call it an improvement over the Boss 351 intake. If anything, the Performer is a step backward with smaller ports than the 4V heads. Here are the A and B measurements (in inches) of some 351C intakes I've measured: A B Edelbrock F-351 & Performer 2V/4V.......3 1/2.....4 3/8 Weiand Xcelerator 2V....................4 3/16....5 1/8 Holley Strip Dominator..................4 5/16....5 3/8 Blue Thunder............................4 7/16....5 3/8 Ford aluminum 4V........................3 1/4.....4 3/8 Offenhauser 360 4V......................3 1/2.....4 1/2 Weiand tunnel Ram.......................9 1/16....9 3/8 Weiand tunnel ram base only.............6 1/4.....6 1/4 Weiand tunnel ram top only..............2 3/4.....3 1/8 Motorsport A351 (Roush).................6 3/4.....6 3/4 A331 (Edelbrock version, not Roush).....4 3/8.....5 5/16 Your best bet for a step up would be the Blue Thunder dual plane high rise which is based upon the old Holman Moody part but it's an inch taller than a stock Ford intake. I've got a Holley carb pattern Boss 351C intake here. If you could find me a Willpower single plane intake for the aluminum Rover V8, I might want to do a swap.. Dan Jones

According to Dan Jones's tech article on this here web site, "- D1ZZ-9424-B, G, F = '71-'72 Boss 351/HO aluminum spread bore " so sounds like the beastyThere's a DIZX-9425-FA on ebay at the moment, but its not listed in the Dan Jones tech article... nearest number and description is the "Ford 351C 4V intake (p/n D1ZX-9424-FA) - high rise single plane aluminum intake with Dominator flange - available over the counter" I imagine its taller, but the piccy doesn't look it? ANyway... a willpower single plane for a rover V8? I'll ask around... we got a 4.4 litre version of the Rover down here in the Leyland P76 so theres bound to be some interesting bits around... Ben

> According to Dan Jones's tech article on this here web site, Not that loser again :-) > "- D1ZZ-9424-B, G, F = '71-'72 Boss 351/HO aluminum spread bore " > so sounds like the beasty Yup. Are you after the spread bore version or the Holley version. The spread bore fits only the 4300D Motorcraft carb and will not mount a Thermoquad or a Quadrajet (different bolt patterns and bore spacing). > There's a DIZX-9425-FA on ebay at the moment, but its not listed in the > Dan Jones tech article... That was an over-the-counter single plane intake. I think Ford ran one on the Pantera they ran at LeMans but the intake doesn't seem to have been used much. The circle track guys used the Bud Moore mini and maxi plenums and the street guys ran the Holman and Moody dual plane. The DIZX-9425-FA intake looks a lot like a Weiand Xcelerator 4V. I've got pictures of most Cleveland intakes if you need to see something specific. > I imagine its taller, but the piccy doesn't look it? It's not as tall as a Strip Dominator but I've never measured one. > Is the middle one the one you mean? > http://au.geocities.com/p76cortina/P76_intakes.jpg > for a Leyland p76 block? Willpower makes similar intakes for the Rover and Leyland P76. I need the Rover version. The Leyland P76 has a taller deck. The specific version I'm interested in has injector bungs cast into the runners. It's still a 4 barrel carb intake but the bungs can be drilled for injectors or nitrous nozzles. > (work fast don't I?) Yes indeed. Dan Jones

Yep, Holley pattern is what I'm after.... hmmm. I can get the Leyland willpower intake easy enough, but the rover one might be harder....Ben
