I'm down here with Larry at the VA hospital. He was originally scheduled for surgery this morning but got bumped by a more critical patient and they never got to him today, they rescheduled him for Wednesday (unless an emergency situation were to occur). The good news is that he wasn't the more critical patient. He has 2 tumors on his brain, the larger of the 2 is on the occipital lobe and the other is on another lope that starts with a "P". They said that the small one is 1cm and the large one is the size of a small walnut. They have been giving him a steroid (forgot the name) to reduce the swelling and he is responding well to it, he's actually back to his normal self right now and feels pretty good except he's lost 40 lbs in less than 2 weeks. The plan of attack is to remove a large portion of the big one to relieve the pressure and to biopsy it. That will tell them more about what it is and where it came from. They did say that the fact that there's more than one makes it less likely to have originated in his brain. They said that it most likely originated somewhere else and moved to his brain, they are going to do some full body scans and other tests between now and his surgery to try to find other tumors. He has pretty much accepted that this is a cancer deal but he told me that he's not ready to go without a fight. They talked about some other treatments if it is cancer (Kimo, radiation) and he's ready to do what it takes to get back to as normal as he can. He's scared, but at the same time, his attitude is good and he's in good spirits. He knows that this is no joke, we've had 2 friends that have had the same kind of deal, one is living a normal life now and one passed away, Larry figures he can beat it....PERIOD! That's all I got for now, I'll let you know more after his sugery on Wednesday. The wait sucks, thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Butch
