We use them in all of our race SBF's. Even the hydro roller stock eliminator engines. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS! Alex,Is there any reason to run restrictors in a street engine, specifically a Fontana aluminum block (uses a Windsor oiling system) with hydraulic roller lifters? Dan Jones

No Dan, if anything you will prematurly wear out the lifters and rockers with restrictors in a street engine. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS! Thanks Alex. I've also wondered if the spring life would be reduced (less oil cooling)?Dan Jones

I don't think a solid lifter engine will have problems. I've always used restrictors in my engine, and the rockers have around 10 years of HARD use, and still work just fine. The cam/lifters have eight. You ever rev an engine very hard with the valve covers removed? You'll paint both walls of the garage with oil in no time! You might want to take spring oiling into consideration if you're using super stiff springs, and they are being run for long periods of time at high rpm... but mine have never had any problems. They have also been run down the interstate at 3.5-4k rpm for extended periods of time. If restrictors still make you nervous, the passages in them can always be drilled out a little more to ease your mind.
