Is there any way to tell if a power valve is bad, Besides when it's in a carb. Like is there something to look for or test ? ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

Ron,Your vacuum was 12-14 depending on idle speed. It could be a PV leaking causing the surging idle speed. They are cheap, so stick a new one in and see what happens. 3.5 or 4.5", or of course my favorite... a plug and bigger jets. SteveW

Moroso offers a power valve tester that not only allows you to check the integrity or sealing properties of the power valve, but will also confirm the vacumm rating at which it closes. Have one and works great!------------------ Ted E. Fe's are plenty fast, but "Y"'s are fun when they run in the nines.
