Ok, I have a 76 351W I pulled from a 76 Mercury Montego. The problem is it had power steering, smog pump, and a/c along with the alternator. Needless to say this pulley set-up is useless as I have none of those options, nor do I desire them. So when I installed it the other day I realized unless I make some sort of idler pulley I can't run a belt on my water pump. So what pulleys should I get to make this work, I need to run my water pump and alternator off of my crank pulley. I would just do the idler thing but I want my car to look clean uder the hood not all rigged up. Could I do something with the original 289 pulleys or something like that. Also what water pump do you run to make it like the 289 was with the inlet and outlet on the same side. This one they are on different sides. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can use the 289 water pump pulley. But the crank pully on the 67 289 was a 3bolt and the 76 351w is a 4bolt.The 1969 351w used the 3 bolt crank pulleys and passanger side water pump outlet like the 289. But you'll also have to add the timing mark pointer to the drivers side and I think you'll have to change the balancer too.

Call Summitt racing 1-800-230-3030 and ask their tech for the right set of polished aluminum pulleys, or http://www.marchperf.com/pg34.html go to this site and they have really nice setups. That's what I put on my 1970 351W in the 65 Mustang.
