I got my radiator from Crites Friday and put it in this weekend. Now that I'm done I am thinking of putting in an electric fan and eliminating the fan on my motor. I'm looking at the one from Summit racing that uses SS flex fan. It is supposed to flow 2300 CFM and I will be using it on the engine side as a puller. Is there any reason why I should not do this? Will it cool was well as the motor driven fan? BTW, any one else run the Crites radiator on a Fairlane or simular car? Wondering what hoses you used? The stock hoses won't work and I don't want to used a flex hose if I can help it. TIA, B-loose

Yes on the electric fan.For the hoses, make a pattern of the shape your hose will have to be out of a wire coathanger. Find a parts store that will trust you to look at all the hoses and pick a couple out. SteveW

Hey bloose, curious to how the crites radiator fit. I'm looking into an aluminum radiator for my 69 Torino and not sure what to get yet. Pics would be great if you could.

If you can wait a bit I'll post pics soon. I had it mounted but I'm not happy with it so I'm going to redo it. The fit is less than perfect but not really bad. It's just going to take a small amount of fabbing to get it how I want it. Maybe I'll snap a few pics of what I have now and again when I get it the way I want it.As for the hose. I went to Autozone today. They had a Goodyear book with pictures and measurements of the molded hoses (the guy didn't even know how to use the books!). Problem was that the hoses they carried were not Goodyear and had a different number on them. They couldn't get the computer to cross them, so they were totally clueless. I grabed a hose repair kit so I can splice some stuff together and some flex hoses. I really HATE flex hoses but for now I may have to use them. On the lower hose I may not have any other choice. I ordered an electric fan and thermostatic control. Should have it later this week. Thanks, B-loose

Here is the link to a few quick pics I snapped. If you look at the upper hose I pieced one together. For the lower I'm going to just use a flex hose I think. I doubt I would get a moulded hose that'll fit down there.http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bloose2/album?.dir=/b17f&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bloose2 B-loose

Yes elec fans rule, you may need a better alternatr though. You will notice an instant power increase, fuel economy increase and the engine will be quieter and smoother and will rev quicker. I installed 2 on my 351 67 must along with a 140 amp powermaster "chevy" alternator. The alternator is a one wire unit so it gets rid of the troublesome ford voltage reg and wiring.

I agree, I've been thinking about an alternator for a while now. Mine works fine now but the more I add the more I think I'm going to have to make a change soon. Are there any alternators that look like a stock Ford Alt but put out more like 100A?B-loose

I posted a few more pics of the radiator. The install is pretty much done. I really like my upper "Franken hose". It matches my "Franken Headers".http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bloose2/album?.dir=/b17f I also called Crites today and they are going to check the fit of their upper mounting plate. They are also sending me some hoses to try. They are sending me an upper for a 70 Torino with a 429 and a lower of the '64 Galaxy with a 390. I am more hopefull about the top than the bottom. I'll let you know how they fit.

Found a lower hose that fits really nice. I don't know the application yet but I'll find out and post it. I also got a upper hose for a '70 Torino with a 302 and it fits. I'm not entirely happy with it but it will work if I don't come up with anything else. I'm really happy with the lower though.B-loose
