In the process of having to change the cast iron gear from my new MSD Distributor.. We encountered a very tight gear and when all was said and done I had to send the distributor back to MSD for repairs..

First of all,, They were awesome.. Not only did they respond by email,, to a not so happy camper.. Joe LaPille of MSD backed the email up with an personal phone call,, to advise me on what needed to be done.. Very good service..

Anyway I overnighted the distributor to them,, and as promised,, they made the repairs,, installed the Steel Gear,, and OVERNIGHTED the distributor back to me.. AWESOME..

One thing he informed me of,, is that MSD now has a billet distributor for the 5.0 HO (Roller)engine with the .467-.468 diameter shaft and requires a STEEL Distributor Gear.. They don't even have this number in any catalogs - it is PN 8598..

Thank you MSD and especially Joe LaPille for going out of his way to keep a customer..

Actually the part number is in there catalog Its under the foot notes, something almost every counterman ignores ....

I was just going by what their rep told me..

I did see it on one website somewhere.. It's just good to know they now have one for the early 5.0 HO.. Carbed 5.0's

My engine is out of an '85 and most 5.0 stuff you see is after '86..
