I just have to say, in addition to making the worlds best head gaskets for SBF's, the Victor Reintz/Clevite group is really a great bunch of reps and engineers.
Clevite has always been the performance industry standard bearer for rod and main bearings, and along with Perfect Circle and the Victor Reintz divison, have got to have the most well rounded engine parts package available.
I'm not saying this just becuase they are helping us out a bit either. You all know that I have been recomending the Victor product for over 5 years here on M&M and that was about 4 years before the handed us gasket one.
We just received some new performance intake and one piece oil pan sample gaskets that look really fantastic.
The intakes are similar to the 1250-1262 Fel-Pro's that I like so much. They have a red sealing bead around all of the contact port areas and appear that they will work great.
I'll post some pics tonight when Beth gets home.

I urge you all to try and seek out Victor gaskets and Clevite bearings whenever the need occurs. Good stuff from good people!

I told Tony to use nothing but Victor Reintz head gaskets. He said he already was going to.

Alex, that reminds me. Does Victor make equivalent 351C and FE head gaskets to the SBF one that you like so much? If so, what are the part numbern?

Thanks Much,
Dan Jones

I dont see it as a sell of any type. Its about the quality of aftermarket parts and the people producing them. Everyone is always looking for good quality in a gasket so it will seal well and not leak. This is something we see in the new products made available for us to look at and send feedback about.

The fact of the matter is the people CARE about their jobs and CARE about what a customer is asking for. Its not just a 9 to 5 job.

I for 1 appreciate the quality of gaskets Victor/Reintz has considering I have not had a problem from day 1 of using them. IF they have something new available for me to try, you can bet Id be trying it.

Alex,
The Fel-pro Intake gaskets fail meserably in the front of the heads near the water ports of the 460. I've had mine fail and have read for others that had the same problem.

I use Victor Reintz intake gaskets and never had a failure.

Do to Alex promoting them on this site all of the time, I built my last engine using Victor gaskets. I think I'll be happy with them.

Here is information right from the source Dan.

Alex,

We have a Solicor Head Gasket for the higher performing Cleveland, part
number 3446, it fits 69-71 apps, with a 4.100 bore and a .042 thickness
compressed, CCV = 8cc.
The Solicor piece is for of a high cylinder pressure app, if someone is
looking for a gasket that would be for a milder application, we have a
couple more part numbers 3502 (VR2000 material -paper mesh on steel core-)
, and 3502SG (Nitroseal material -graphite on steel core-)
Thanks for that link I will pass it on to some others here that would be
happy to see it!

Regards,
David Logan

The FE victor gasket works great in my application. The felpro bore diameter is too big and kills off some compression. It my not be a big deal for most people, but I need everything I can get. I'm not sure if the gasket I use will work on a 427, but for my 390, it is the best gasket to use.

5959SC
also 3389 which is VR200 material.

I heard several years ago from people in the industry that Victor Reinz was number one in overall gasket quality. I used to be a member of the old 'fordnatics' mailing list (which used to be very busy before website based forums became popular) and there was a Victor Reinz engineer who was a member and frequent contributer. He was (is) a very bright guy, and helped solve many gasket related problems. Many people who switched to his company's product gave rave reviews.

Most VR gaskets can be obtained through NAPA.

Good Luck!

Alex, thanks for the parts numbers. Mike, I think the guy you're thinking of is Ed Raden. He sent me some carbon impression paper to check the deck/head fit on an aluminum V8 I was rebuilding.
