I purchased some eagle H beam rods today. I wish I could have afforded the Oliver's but what can you do(other than spend more $$).
What have you guys heard about them. The quality seems to be good. Anyone using them?
Give me your .02 cents.
Thanks,
Brian

We've been running 6.25" Eagle 4350 H-beam rods in the 408W for a couple years now. They are fine!

Speaking of Eagle H-beam rods, a while back I bought a pile of
parts that included a stroker short block that had never been
run (appears to have been trail assembled but never finished).
The pistons are Venolia and the rods are H-beam but I'm not sure
of the manufacturer. They are 5.7" long small journal Chevy size.
I need to check whether or not the crank was widened or the rods
narrowed but the bearings are clearly not the right ones (they
don't line up once snapped into place and the part number crosses
to an iron duke 4 cylinder). In any event, the rods say 5700SS
on the side of the H-beam and the rod bolts say ARP 8740 and
Eagle 1.6. Are these Eagle rods? I looked for an Eagle 5700SS
part number at Eagle's site but came up empty.

No problems so far after three seasons. Shift at 7500 and cross the finish line around 8000, best of 10.51@128mph 3160 lb. car. After the first season I had the moter all apart, and checked the big ends, the bores were still perfectly round, had heard alot of bad things about them, was relieved! Think Alex called them cave man rods cause they're heavy, never compared weights to stock rods, the Cleveland rods are called ESP which are suposed to be lighter then thier regular H-beams, the card says total weight 670, rotating weight 478, recipr weight 192. Remember they use a windsor bearing,(dont know the reason why) Just put new bearings and oil pump in the motor this week, getting ready for the new season!

My stock rods with polished beams and bushed small ends weighed 710 grams each.

Windsor bearing! I didn't know that. So, let me get this straight, you can use the stock size cleveland crank with the windsor rod bearing and the stock cleveland eagle rods (CRS5780F3D). No mods are required?
Thanks,
Brian

Yes, Windsor bearing, no modifications, I use Clevite77 CB831P in mine. Imagine it's so they can save money on machining, whatever the small difference in the bearings are, they leave the big ends the same and just change the wrist pin height for the two different rods.
