What gear ratio and stall converter is best for a 460? It will be mildly built up. I was planning on getting a 3000-3500 stall for it. What brand of converter is a good one and which brand of gear is good to use. This is all going on a strictly drag car. Thanks for any help Ryan

Buddy of mine has a 69 with a 460. It's a mild combo and I know it very well. .030 over, home ported D0VE heads, small (.570) solid flat cam, Victor 460 intake (ran as well with an Offy Port--sonic) 850 dp, Duraspark and MSD 6Al. Roller C-6 trans. We put a PTC 10" in it.I know JPT is very popular with these guys, but in my part of the country the most popular converters are PTC and BTE. PTC: http://www.ptcrace.com/ It will flash to about 3900-4000. If your car is strictly drag I would look at something up in that range. He lauches at 2200 or so footbraking or 3000 when using the transbrake. Shifts at about 5600. The car has ladder bars and 28X10.5 slicks. For gears we started out with 4.56 as all the tracks in this area are 1/8 mile only. Last fall we secided to take it to the NMRA Finals in Bowling Green. That race was 1/4 so we put in some 3.70's. Figured it would hurt the 60's. But it didn't have hardly any effect 60' and 1/8 mile only lost .01-.02 with the higher gears. It just goes to show the torque these motors have. The car runs 7.25-7.30 1/8 and 11.50's 1/4 60's are 1.57-1.58. This is car that can be driven to the track if it had treaded tires and a tag. For gears I have always used Strange or Richmond. My old Mustang had both in it at one time or another and no problems. My dragster has Strange Pro-Gears in it and they are holding up great as well, even with a 6100 stall and 1.09 60's. This car will be driven on an 1/8 mile track. Does anyone know a good place that I can get the old converter rebuilt? It is supposed to be a 3000 or 3500 stall. It had big peices of metal in it so I figured it was gone. I figured I could get it rebuilt for cheaper than I could buy a new one. Thanks Ryan
