I have a 68 mustang with a L6 200 in it. My plan is to swap a 351c into it. I already bought a 351c. I am going to have it completely rebuilt. I need someone to give their input of what a check list of things to do. I know the front suspension will have to be upgraded, rotors will have to be converted to a 5 lug setup, rear end swap for a 9" instead of the 8"(thats in it), and I am choosing to put disc brakes all the way around. I just need some more input.

Thanks

you might have to move the crossmember for the tranny foward depending on how you mount the motor and you will also need to have that one rebuilt to handle the v-8 power
unless you have one fo it aleady good luck and welcome to M&M

Shock tower clearance will likely be a problem in the 68, I'd think

When we had the Cleveland in the Granada, it was a bear to work on and I'm betting a 68 isn't alot wider between the towers.

I believe they put FEs in those from Ford and I don't know if the front end on those cars was any different, but even if not, the Cleveland is wide at the outside of the heads. Headers are hard to install and plug removal will require taking the valve covers off.

In KVs 69, both of the above tasks are a hassle but easier than the old Granada.

Personally, I'd put the heads on the block and set it in the car to see what it looks like.

You didn't mention what trans. you are using, but I'd not use the 6 banger one. If its a C4 maybe overhauled, but I wouldn't trust any of the stock driveline components very far.

It sounds like you have a good idea of what else needs to be upgraded.

Good luck, it should be a cool setup.

Nope, 67-70 have the same basic engine compartment and even use the same headers. Valve covers will only have to come off for plug changes if you use tall valve covers.

The problem with the granada was the space between the shock towers actually narrowed towards the top making it harder to work on.
