the good news is the trans solenoid was an easy fix. The really bad news is Billy Mac just told me the ONLY heads up racing class he and I fit into is shutting down it's operations. I guess it was too good to be true. This really bites for us, we really were pumped about a heads up class for classic muscle cars. I guess it's back to bracket racing I feel like they just sent me up to Angolia prison in Lousiana for 5 years maybe IHRA has a spot who knows. ------------------ JS Run what you brung and hope you brung enough! 69 Mustang Pro ET Drag

Jerry, Are you saying that you don't want to race both ends of the track? Heads up is just too easy! I know you're a good enough driver to bracket race. SteveW

Steve, I've been bracket racing since i was 15. I've won my share of final rounds. Sometimes you just need something different. I love to watch the dixie doorslammers that race heads up at the tracks around here. I dont know how to answer your question Steve, you race both ends of the track whatever kind of racing you do. Heads up and index racing is far from Easy. Pro tree racing is an art all in itself. We used to get to pro tree race at Hub city when both dials were the same. I'll still bracket race but only under protest. I'll find somwhere to race besides local brackets, it's just a matter of time. Hopefully before im 90 though! It is/was called Classic Thunder......(mostly in the South East.....but were supposed to be a part of the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, this year)........Dragsters had/have to be front motor.....Gasser's are 1965 body style or older..(mostly older)....Classic Outlaws...(Me and Jerry)....must have 30 year old car or older to enter......All heads up...Or on Indexes.......Seems like things are falling apart with the organization......and its really sad!!!!

Heads up Mustang racing http://www.nmraracing.com/ but you need a fox or newer body in most of the classes. Older Fords can run in Hot street class, check the rules I don't remember exactly which ones. The next race is in Reynolds, GA this weekend. From their website: Denso Iridium Power Spark Plugs Presents the 4th Annual Bassani Xhaust NMRA Ford Nationals in Reynolds, Georgia, and it is ONLY 2 Weeks Away! April 2-3-4, 2004! Sleepy Silver Dollar Raceway will turn into a rockin? house of horsepower when the NMRA racers come storming in on the first weekend in April. The fans in the area are rabid for fast Fords, and they won?t be disappointed by the action presented by the NMRA racers. Silver Dollar Raceway is an NHRA quarter-mile drag strip located about 25 miles west of Warner Robins, Georgia, and 90 miles south of Atlanta.

What about Super Gas?You're quick enough aren't you? My brother bought a throttle stop and weather station/computer last year - raced the Brainerd divisional last June in Super Street. We had a blast - whole new learning curve! Now I have to find some money for that stuff for my car. ------------------ Fred 68 Mustang 500CID/Powerglide - "No Tubs" 86 Mustang GT Cobra

Yes...Super Gas IS an option......I am just not overly fond of throttle stop racin'....(in Fact......MAY be quick enough to run Super Comp.....Least that's what I'm TRYING for.....)....But STILL...its throttle stop racin'............I'd rather see em do away with the electronics and "dial" the cars in with timimg...jetting and gears....instead of having some of those outragous top end speeds......192 MPH for an 8.90 pass??....when 155 or 160 is "accurate"??

At the bracket finals at Topeka a few years back there was a digger running high 11s at over 170 MPH. Judge this! Yikes! Throttle stops have their place, I guess, but I don't think bracket racing is the one. My car has one that I have't used yet. Might try Hot Rod sometime. ------------------ 63 Falcon 377 Cleveland stroker Flying Toilet alchohol injection. 6.19 @ 110 MPH 1/8 mile 2002 Ranger FX4 daily driver 2000 F350 PSD Crew cab dually - Like commuting in a B52!! 98 US Cargo Phantom II 28'

I'm sorry...I can't help but lmao at the guy in Topeka.....11's??...a buck seventy???...Dammitboy!!!!...Talk about spinnin' your opponent around in circles as you blow by..SHEESHHHHHH!!! A number of years ago...there was a guy outta Texas, who managed some 200 mph top end charges in Super Comp.....(had a blower car)....seems like once he did it a few times...the novelty wore off and he faded into obscurity.......

The fellow doin' that was Gary Stinnett. I beleive he's a former NHRA super comp champion. I know he seems to always finish in the top 10 every year in super comp.He was running 11.60's at just over 170 mph.

To me throttle stop racing is another way to race, you still win or loose - up to you to make your own oppurtunity (did I spell that right?).It is hard racing these high mph whackos - but they can be beaten - and is it ever sweet! Stinnett is very savy - a guy at our local track bought one of his dragsters couple of years back - he does well.

Heads up racing-- He who spends the most money. This is why bracket racing started. Throttle stop racing when car starts off then falls down & picks up again--- time to go to restroom, look at scenery, take a nap, clip your toenails, talk to wife about how her day went, etc., etc.
