I just installed my driveshaft loop on my 68 and was wondering while I was under there if it would be a good idea to put one on the rear. What do you guys think. This is a street/strip car.I used the search but couldnt get a definite answer.I also couldnt believe how easy everything went on for being a one size fits all part.

Bob,

A rear driveshaft loop is a good idea. If you've ever had a 9" throw the pinion out the front of the case you'll know why. The end of the driveshaft flips around everywhere and tries to come through the floor and take your head off.

Thats what I was thinking about.I can understand not wanting the car to pole vault thats why we use the front loop. But I was also concerned about the rear u joint failing and the driveshaft beating the hell out of my floor! Every u joint failure I have seen at the track has always been the rear one. Thanks Steve.

Bob,

The '66 has those dents in the floor.
I've seen other cars that have those dents on the back of the driver's seat.

Bob sounds like a good idea too me. I don't see why not add a rear loop.

I was doing some thinking again today about this.I was wondering since the driveshaft angles down to the rearend I might have to lower the loop somehow to go around the driveshaft.Any thoughts?

Bob,

You'd have to make one that can handle the suspension travel and angled to match the shaft.
