Hi,
I forgot the rules. There is a way to determin the ramp on the lobe. You have your .050 and advertised duration. I seen something that discussed this but don't remember where I seen it?

What I'm thinking is two cams having the same .050 figures but the advertised durations are different.

Can ya help...
Thank you,
Les

advertized is usually 0.006" or so of lift

if two cams have the same @ 0.050 numbers but one has less advertized, the ramps are quicker, however nothing is known about the cam after 0.050" of lift other than the max lift.

Advertised numbers mean nothing. They could be anywhere from .002 to .008 depending on the manufacturer. .050 is the only true way to compare duration numbers unless the grinder will give you all the numbers, from off the seat up to .050. Fat chance of getting them to do that though.

Ignore the advertised numbers and leave them to the magazine monkees.

As Kid says, Advertised numbers mean very little because many cams will measure different than the advertised numbers anyways if you get them on a "Cam Doctor" fixture.
I really wished that every manufacturer used actual seat to seat numbers, but none do. They play a game with "advertised" numbers so that their "270" cam is better than someones else's "270" cam.

Ok Thanks Guys! I was thinking it was something like this:

BBF Example:
int/exh
282/290 Adv duration
232/240 @0.0500
.584/0.605 lift
106 LSA
571 hp@6500
562 lbft@4500

************
int/exh
302/310 Adv duration
232/240 @0.0500
.584/0.605 lift
106 LSA

572 hp@6500
525 lbft@5000
quickly rising torque curve

Just wasn't sure, thanks for the help.
Les

Comp Cams is one that monkeys with seat numbers,Solid tappets are measures At .020 tappet lift but the Magnum solids are rated at .015 so they appear bigger than they are.
