I have pulled the left head off my engine. The piston closest to the fire wall had about a litre of water/coolant in it.The next one along about half of that and the other two were almost dry. As for the head gasket I cannot see any sign of a rip or hole. The only thing I could see was on the gasket around the water jacket it looks like its been rubbed with fine sand paper,A bit fluffy looking and on the face of the head in the same spot it has a green stain on it........Does that sound like it could have been the problem?

Need to be re-torqued after initial warm up. Othewise will leak eventually every time. Use Victor 3428SG gaskets with no sealer and torque to specs. Use water only for first time start up.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS! Sorry dumb question Alex, when you retorque the heads after break in, do you let them cool down all the way or just cool enough to where you can stand it. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

By the time you get the valve covers and headers off, it will be ice cold. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS!
