I got all the qoutes and gave a depsit today.
Lets just say, "good isn't cheap, and cheap isn't good."
It was alittle more then I was hoping for.So it was good thing I didn't buy another new parts until I got the finale price.
I started out hoping for a strong high power 351w for $2000.

I'm ending up with just under twice that in it.
But that includes all machine work, assembled from carb to oil pan, RPM 2.02 heads with some of Tony's highly recomended bowl and port work & clean up, JE 10-1 flat top forged pistons, ARP main studs, rod, and head bolts,E-brock timing set, flexplate, and compcams push rods/cam/lifters/rollertip rockers, oil pump, pick up and drive.

The block will be 40 over and 20 under crank. Balanced, bore&hore, decked.

Any more advice or opinions on price, parts ect.

I've had a great time working with Tony Hewes so far. He seems real honest and understanding of all, and mean all my dumb questions.

Alex many thanks

Tony also said I made a great choice on the cam.
I told him who it was from and who beat me over the head to try it.

Any one want to guess what kind of power the motor will make ?

I was hoping for 250-280 at the wheels, but mostly hoping to see the 12's in Sac and low 13's in Fallon ?

I'd say over 400 at the flywheel.

It's just more then I hoped it would cost. But then again it seems like everything is to me.
I do feel like I'm getting a strong short block and some great heads which is more then I planned for with the $2000-$2500 motor. I could have saved alittle money on the extra head work and the complete assembly. But I'm already hundreds over budget so I might as well spend just alittle more here and there.
Mr.Visa will be happy to take alittle more from too.

Awesome, anything close to 400hp would be great.
Or were you just pulling my leg ???

400 would be about $9.00 per HP it seems a lot cheaper that way.

Scoop what cam did you end up deciding on?
270S?

If so your engine plan would be nearly identical to mine

Paul no I'm going with the 270H cam so it should be close. What kinda of power does your 351w make ?

I meant that our engine "plans" were pretty much the same. As of right now I'm just stockpiling parts, already bought the 270S, performer RPM intake, and headers. I am still trying to decide on the heads. The engine will be done by very early summer, as I'm in college now and don't have access to my car to work on it.

It will be an interesting comparison when our cars our done, to see what kind of power they both make. I'm hoping for at least 300hp at the wheels, and I think that your combo will definitely give you at least that. Keep us posted on your progress!

I'll let you know,it'll be kinda fun to see to motors built almost the same but with the 270s and one with the 270h cam. Also the guy thats doing alittle head work to my RPM's said they flow great with some clean up on the intake and exhaust sides, port match them to the intake and alittle smoothing around the valves.
I'd love to have 300hp at the wheels.
