I got my new "MAE Racing" center section and installed it in early fall. I followed all directions, broke it in and did the series of break-in drives. After all the break in procedures, I began driving normal, but winter came fast, as did an electrical problem which kept the car in the garage for a long time. Well I been driving it a good bit lately and I've noticed a noise coming from the rear. Its like a periodical whine about 1 sec apart. changes with different speeds. Its not always noticable, but especially at higher speeds it gets very noise and you can feel the car vibrating with it. Is this normal for these gears/this rear? The oil level is good and its not leaking.

From past experience The only good noise is NO noise.
With that said I would try and contact MAE ASAP as it looks like you still have a chance of being under warranty with them...
ANY vibration rooted in the rearend is also a sign of trouble to come.
Also I've never heard any negative about MAE, let us know what the outcome is...

I am curious..."--- THE POSI UNIT IS A LIMITED SLIP, WHICH HAS FOUR COIL SPRINGS SAME AS THE FORD TRACTION-LOCK, (HAS STEEL DISC. FOR LONGER LIFE) THAT LOAD THE SIDE GEARS, FOR A 200 PLUS FT LBS OF BRAKE AWAY TORQUE BEFORE SLIPPING. GOOD FOR THE STREET AND OCCASIONAL STRIP USE. THE POSI IS MADE BY US AT MAE AND HAS A ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY."

In my experience when somebody says "limited slip" they usually mean an open diff ... a "non posi". The picture shows what looks like a stock Ford open carrier, preloading the spiders is not a "posi" and won't last long.
