They are similar to Cleveland style heads right? How to they flow in comparisson? Do they also have the canted valves? Basically what I am wondering is if these were modified to put on a Windsor how well would they perform? Just an Idea because my dad has an 81 F100 with a tired 351M.[This message has been edited by Kellxr7 (edited 02-22-2004).]

They are basically the same head, except the exhuast port is really bad on the "m" head. The exhuast port isnt good on a standard 2v cleveland head, and it's even worse on the smog (M/400) heads. With all the good aftermarket heads available for a windsor, unless you want to spend a lot of money doing it, I wouldn't put C heads on a windsor.

Most of the 2V type heads out there are really 351M/400 and don't have a good exhaust port. A real 351C-2V has a better port. > The exhuast port isnt good on a standard 2v cleveland head, and it's > even worse on the smog (M/400) heads. What don't you like about the 351C-2V exhaust port? On a flow bench, a 2V flowed within 10 CFM of a 4V port with higher velocity. Also, the port opening allows a 1 3/4" primary which may be better than the 4V's 1 7/8" primary in milder applications. The intake is a completely different story. The 2V was down 90 CFM to the 4V. > With all the good aftermarket heads available for a windsor, unless you > want to spend a lot of money doing it, I wouldn't put C heads on a windsor. and since it already has a 351M, why not just rebuild it to a 400. Cheaper than building a 351W and switching over the transmission and other bits. Dan Jones

I keep hoping somebody on here builds a 400M with 4V close chambered heads Put a nice solid lifter cam in it, and a cleveland intake (requires spacers but they're available) and you'd have a serious runnin' cheap motor! ------------------

http://www.projectbronco.com/Technical_Articles/351m400_performance_build_up.htm Check this site out. I built my 351 M into a 400 25 years ago with block decked, balanced, milled heads, mild cam, Edelbrock intake, 600 Holley & duals for my F250 4X4. Ran good but not for the money I spent doing it
