This will probably be a good one for Alex.I have 2 sets of ported 289 cylinder heads;I always thought the 2 were pretty much identical, but I checked the casting #'s tonight and 1 set is C6AE,other set is C6OE.Is there any real difference in port volume, chamber size/shape,etc.?Would one be considered better than the other? They look pretty much the same, but both have been worked over,so it's hard to tell how they started out. Assuming the suffix is A,M, or N, the only differences I am aware of would be in the combustion chambers. 47-8 vs 52-3 cc's. One would be slated for small car usage and the other large.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS! I looked up those casting numbers in Bob Mannel's book, and it looks like the C6OE were cast in the Cleveland foundry, and the C6AE were cast in the Windsor foundry. Main difference had to do with how smog tubes were added for California cars. There is also a slight difference in accessory mounting hole locations on the ends of the heads between the two castings. This might be a problem if you are using brackets that don't have elongated holes.

The OE's have an 'M' cast on them, the AE's have nothing else...?What's this mean?
