Now that I've decided to race a little more seriously, I think it's time to pick up a weather station. I searched the archives, but didn't see any recommendations. Any thoughts on what works best for a good price???Thanks, Scott

We have a Tag WSC-1, I believe. We bought it last year and are very happy with the results. We have it set up for our local track (left and right lane) and also set it up for Alex and Tony when the came to race here in Iowa. It also has an ET predictor in it which is also very accurate. There were MANY times when I dialed the car what I wanted cuz I thought the Station was crazy... boy was I wrong. It usually ran within a few thou. Not too shabby. Oh, and it also helped us claim the Track Championship. You cant beat there website: tagrace.com. Excellent customer support as well. Hope this helps a little. Steve.

The one I use is an old #1 Stop Products predictor. It's an older predictor, but is very accurate. Well, it used to be till I switched to alcohol. The guy told me they could update it to work with the alchy, but I never had it done. But with a car on gas, it is very accurate. There were numerous times when there would be a long break in the racing and I would dial the car based on what the predictor said and it would be less than .01 off.[This message has been edited by kid vishus (edited 02-05-2004).]

I've been using Computech's Race Air for a few years and like it. They're a good company to deal with 1-800-870-8383

Scott,One thing to keep in mind is that a weather station/et predictor cannot know whether or not your car hooked up. They will not predict bad 60' times. You have to get the car to dead hook each and every time before the miniscule weather changes will have a significant effect on your et's. They can't predict a missed shift or late/early shift either. Changing track conditions have to be a judgement call of your own, because the et predictor doesn't have a clue whether the sun is up, down or whether dew is settling on the starting line. Just some things to keep in mind, SteveW

Steve, the car is turning 60s at 1.795 +/- 0.005 to 0.008 so it's hooking pretty consistenly now. I know I have more tuning to do, but I'd like to start building the database so I can predict how the setup will behave as temps drop in the evenings. I figure I might as well do it all the right way from the get go and learn along the way. At this point, my biggest variable is how many hamburgers I eat between runs.

Damn, and here I was thinking I was ready for the nationals. I haven't had a chance yet to run this combo at Sears, but not for lack of trying. Damn rain. I'm off to Sacto again tomorrow for some jetting and timing experimentation.

Yep, the predictor is only as good as the info it gets fed. Mine even says to go thru occassionaly after you get a good base built and clear out "odd" runs that don't match. It makes it more accurate that way.
