When I take my motor back apart I want to put ARP main bolts in it to replace the stock ones. If I do this do I have to align hone the mains or can I just bolt it back together?------------------ 1970 coupe restored with the help of my dad. 306 with 600 holley, Weiand Stealth intake, headers, Comp cam, harland sharp roller rockers, kb pistons, 11:1 compression ratio, pertonix ignitor 2 with matched coil, lakewood bellhousing, 4-speed toploader, and 2.79 open 8" rear. Soon to be 9" 3.50 trac-lok 1986 f-150, 5.0, factory towing package with original c-6 trans

You just need to swap the bolts, no align honing or align boring is needed. If you do choose to change over to studs, then you need to align hone the block. But I'm o.k. with bolts right Alex? I just want something better than the current stock ones, and since it's only $18 for a set of main bolts I figured it was worth the added insurance for the bolts. I don't think I need the studs, plus I can't afford them anyways. Bolts are great! I actually prefer them. Alex: I don't know about you but we broke several of the stock windage tray bolts, It seems they were drilled too deep and down into the top of the bolt. ------------------ 1964-1/2 Mustang SS/L 289 4-Speed, 10.633 @ 124.83. West Coast Money Maker Racing Team Member

Mark, I have a lot of them. Maybe 20-30 NOS FoMoCo Boss 302 threaded main cap bolts, all from the early 70's still in blue and white boxes. Good quality apparently as I have never had any problems with them. I bought 100 of them when I heard they were going to be discontinued, which they did. Then they reintroduced them along with the tray.
