Hi,just curious as to what material is the strongest for a racing valve. It seems each manufacturer doesn't want the consumer to know what there getting in terms of strength or they would have a system that allows you to compare apples to apples. Does anyone know how to break down the above numbers? Thanks.------------------ 351c 4v clsd heads 60'1.580 1/8 [email protected] 1/4 [email protected]

It would all depend on what you plan on doing. The different materials relate to temp, weight, RPM, and duration conditions. It is always best to set goals, a budget, then talk to a proffesional about your needs.

Its for a cleveland that spins up to 7000rpm. I think I'm convinced that for the money Ferrea 6000's are a good choice. I always see valves on Ebay claiming they're severe duty for around $110-$130US and the price just seems too good. You know the saying!

I like them and have run them without any problems. And that is in a solid roller application shifting at 7500 rpm.

I run the Ferrea valves too. Never had a problem with them, but I have a relatively mild cam compaired to Kid.------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 351C 4V

Kid,I thought you told me you ran the Competition Plus valves? If I recall correctly, you mentioned breaking a less expensive valve. Ferrea has the 5000 Series High Performance valves, the 6000 Series Competition valves, and the 1000 Series Competition Plus valves, along with a number of specialty valves. The 5000 series are inexpensive street performance valves and can be had for around $160 a set. The 6000 series are maybe $90 more a set. Ferrea claims they are good for roller cams. The 1000 Series are severe duty competion valves and probably another $90 more expensive than the 6000 Series. Dan Jones

KV has (as I) several sets of heads and a couple of motors in various stages of completion. I seem to recal him saying that he has run both products Dan. Ferrea is not my own "top" choice, but they do make a great product for the application in this thread. You really can't go wrong with Ferrea, Manley, Del-West, or CV products as long as you choose the right product for the job required. As most of you know, I use the Victory one piece product in my SS 289 engines, but those are custom valves for severe duty in a custom application.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS! I have ran the 6000 series and the 5000 series Ferrea valves. All I have ran in my last several builds have been Ferrea's. They used to have a series between the 6000's and the 1000 series. I ran them till they stopped making them. The last couple of sets I ran were the 6000's. I did break one 5000 series, but we decided afterwords that they weren't designed for solid roller cams.

I also run the Ferrea 6000 series valves in my roller cam Cleveland. My buddy who helps me with my heads, builds a lot of motors at all different levels and Ferrea is all he uses, says they're just as good if not better then the severe duty Manleys plus they cost less!Roger

And they weigh less than Manleys and I was told by a friend with a flowbench they flow a touch better too.

To be honest, I have never heard a bad word about Ferrea. Anyone know how expensive the hollow stem valves are?

I've only seen titanium valves from Del West and CV. Do they also make steel valves? > I have ran the 6000 series and the 5000 series Ferrea valves. I thought it was the 6000 series you broke but it was the 5000 series. Sounds like the 6000 series are good bang for the buck. Dan Jones
