Hello everyone,I called Global West about using their Del-a-lum bushing & shackle kit with fiberglass springs. They said the bushings were too "hard" for fiberglass springs and could splinter the spring in a hard corner. I was told that the bushings do not allow deflection laterally and a fiberglass spring could not take that kind of stress. Is this true - I've seen a lot of posts on the fiberglass springs and IIRC even aluminium bushings. Any thoughts?

Paul,The FlexIform glass monoleaf springs that I have are built with aluminum end sections. The glass is like a bow with aluminum ends clamped and glued onto them. They come with urethane bushings in the aluminum end sections, but we use aluminum bushings in the front with the CalTrac bar setup. I think GlobalWest doesn't know what they are talking about, with FlexIform springs anyway. Welcome to M&M!! SteveW

They may have a point, i'm not quite sold on the "toughness" of fiberglass as a leaf spring. I hope they are tough as nails since i'm running them but i've already broken one. I don't think it was due to the bushings though, but I also don't think it was due to the installation. George told me that one of his mexicans didn't make my first set properly.

To me it sounds like the 'glass leafs can't (and are not likely designed to) take the stress of hard cornering. I'd guess they're great for straight-line action, just don't try to make them do something that they're not designed to do..... JMO,,,, Ryan

Thanks everyone for the responses - and thank you for the welcome! I really like the idea of the fiberglass springs, so maybe I'll just start out with the Slide-A-Link's and keep the poly bushing in the back for starters. I have some other questions - so I'll start a different post!
