I think it's a toss up.

Oliver makes some nice rods if money isn't an issue
Bryant makes some pretty decent cranks. I'd buy the best I could afford though.

According to the guy who supplied my scat kit, the forgings are about the same. The Scat seems to hold tighter machining tolerances than Eagle. My local machine shop said about the same thing.

I was told that SCAT is cast in China but machined in USA (assuming a cast crank) but the forged ones are made entirely in USA.

Eagle stuff I thought was Pure chinese, and while represent good value for money they do seem to be a little worse on the machining. You need to check anything you buy before assembly but it seems most eagle stuff needs to be worked over before use.

My engine guy says Scat is junk and Eagle is the good stuff. Guess everyone has their opinion.

Steve66 I think your engine guy is confusing Scat with Cat. Cat gots a lot of bad feedback on various websites. I don't see much comment either way about Eagle and lots of positive comments on Scat.

I think if you are going to spend a thousand dollars on a lightweight crank you sure as he11 don't want 3 inch mains.
