For '65-66 cars, at least. There is NO need to remove one header! Remove all 6 bolts and slide the bell back as far as you can, allow it to rest on the collectors. Remove all 6 pressure plate bolts and slide it and the disc out. It takes a bit of wiggling, but a Lakewood scattershield will clear Hooker Super Comps without removing one or both headers ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Hey Steve, what did you ever do with your manual transmission? Is/was it a toploader?------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Todd,The '66 was originally a 3 speed manual on the floor, then I swapped a 4 sp OD toploader into it, followed by a t-5 conversion with Lakewood scattershield and cable clutch. But the new 408w would have destroyed the t-5 so we sold it and went with an awesome c-4. The auto has never given me any problem at all and takes a licking and keeps on ticking. SteveW

Ah, I see. If you stumble across a 4 speed toploader, preferably wide ratio (2.78 1st) give me a holler. I'd really rather not launch this car on slicks and hope this T-10 dosen't disassemble itself ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

you might be able to slide a new clutch in that way on a 67, but if its the first time you are putting the lakewood on, or if any other work is required, just start unbolting the headers. it will save a lot of cussing. also, i have a friend selling a nice wide ratio toploader with shifter and other stuff for $450 i think. i remember he said he doesnt have the fork, but tht isnt hard to find. i also think its out of a small block car so the input shaft shouldnt be a problem. the big blocks have shorter shafts. he can change the input shaft and tail shaft housing to fit your application.------------------ 306, 4speed, 4.11's....best 1/8 mile 7.58 at 92mph with 1.72 60ft.
