I was told that you can put a 1976 Lincoln Mark IV rear end under a 1972 Torino and everything bolts up the same. The only problem is that the Lincoln axles have a 5x5" bolt circle. Can I put different axles in it to get the usual 5x4.5" or would I have to just deal with the 5x5"?

Thanks, I'm not sure about how reliable the source of information is http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2003/11/torinoreardiscs/index.shtml They said everything was pretty much the same. I don't know. Hopefully I can find one somewhere.

A couple of things. You asked about a 76 Mark rear end. The one in the article is a 74. I had a 76 Mark and although I never actually never measured the rear end width or track, it sure seemed a lot wider than the Torino Elite I had. My 76 Mark had a huge spicer type rear end with what was reffered to as the 9.75 ring gear I believe??? I did not read anything about what wheels they wound up using and how the fit was. Steve has a Hollander interchange manual. Maybe he can look it up and see what Hollander shows for axle housing interchanges.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! The reason I am looking for a rear end is that the guy who previously owned the car sold the rear end (though the disk brakes will be nice). So now I have to find a rear end and find a way to get it off the trailer! Does the 74 Mark have the 5x5 bolt pattern? Can I get it drilled for a 5x4.5? Thanks for all the info.
