I drive this car on the street often, and I want it to be faster. Its a '67 289 with holley 600 vac. sec carb, edelbrock performer intake, hooker headers, crane ignition, and dual exhuast. Everything else is just stock rebuild (rebuilt about 5000 miles ago). I dont want to have to change anything besides the cam, lifters and springs. I want to keep my stock stall converter and heads. Here are 10 cams I have found that either people have suggested or I found on my own.

The Lunati bracket racer, the blue race, the Ford racing, and the Comp Xtreme energy are too big for your application.

The pick is the Comp 270S or 270H.

Which Xtreme energy is too big? Some of those you mentioned have "bigger" specs than the 270. At what point would I run into a problem with piston to valve clearance?

And if I get new springs with the cam, will I be able to rev to 6000 safely?

With the xtreme energy 262, will valve springs be neccessary? And if I was to get a carb spacer, open or four hole?

I think valve springs are neccessary, because stock springs can't work properly with that cam!
I bought it with K kit.It includes springs,retainers,locks,timing chain,seals,lifters.
