Not bad at all.
I have recomemended them dozens of times.
They are actually my iron aftermarket head of choice.
When we have referanced heads lately, it has been about aluminum and or BIG inch engines.

FWIW A good friend who is a ragazine writer has a set of aluminum windsor Jrs on his personal car. And believe me, he has TONS of free heads laying around.
They have been massaged some but the 306 makes 468hp @ 7200 on a dyno, 390 at the wheels through a t-5. the cam is something like a 245 @ .050, 600 lift solid roller.
IIRC the 5.0 it is in ran in the high 12s with a roadrace spring/shock setup at Rockingham last fall.

would a set of those assembled cost? i was looking at the pro toplines in iron (180 or 200cc), or the roush 200's

How do the Windsor jr stack up to these, about the same?? I know that the 58cc chamber would be nice for my low compression.

would it be possible to make 400hp with a set of these?

What is your combo?
You can make 400hp in theory with any.
The Pro-topline heads are a lot nicer castings right out of the box if the ones I have seen are typical. The world stuff needs some cleaning up from what I have seen. Nothing major though.

probably any would do, your right

right now it's a low compression 74 351W
SCE copper head gaskets .021" thick to bump compression by half a point
edelbrock rpm air gap
670cfm holley
hooker comp headers
probably a 270S or 282 after a rebuild.

i would like to run low octane crud through the engine, the real cheap stuff, but i don't know if this will be possible

What do you mean by "Low compression"?
You are always going to be disapointed in an 8:1 engine.

low compression as in 8.5:1 with the copper gaskets and the stock 60.4cc heads, so with 58cc heads it should be in the 8.75:1 range.

it's going for a rebuild whenever i can find a reputable shop nearby, which all the ones i've been to look rather shady

Dubz I only wish you could use the builder I'm using. He's a great guy and a racer too.But shipper from Reno would be to much.
Alex turned me on to this guy. Then after asking around town most all the local Ford racers use him too.
