Will I be wasting my time trying to get a set of iron GT 40's to flow #'s in the ballpark of 250cfm int./200cfm ex.?Recently got a deal on a set and was hoping to squeeze some power out of them with a little grinding.Hoping to use them on the turbo 306ci motor;shooting for the 550-580hp area with 10psi boost, and the x303 cam.Am I off my freakin' rocker,or will it be a slam dunk? Please be gentle.LOL!------------------ DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

If you got souch a great deal on them, sell them and use the profits for some serious heads. I agree with Alex. The GT40 has no more potential after porting than a normal 5.0L head as the castings are very similar.

The GT40 does flow better than standard 302 heads but not as well as aftermarket heads. Here is a source for comparative flow numbers. It isn't inclusive of some of the newer heads but is very informative.http://www.jason.fletcher.net/tech/flowdata/castiron.htm John
