Best factory are '90-'95. The '94-'95 uses a different bell housing than '79-'93 due to a longer inputshaft.Avoid '79-'86 at all cost. Better than best factory is Z spec. You can buy the Z from many performance retailers. I bought a '93 T5 that had trashed gears in it, and had it built with Z spec parts. This way I was able to get .59 overdrive, and the speedo gear I wanted.

Depends on what you want to do. Later Turbo Coupes and or SC's have some nice low gearing and good parts.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS!
