I am about to rebuild the T5 in my 6T6.. It's out of a '85 Mustang 5.0 GT..

Are there better rebuild kits than others.. Better stated: Which ones should I avoid..

It has always had bad Syncros in 3rd & 4th gears and on my last trip,, 3rd & 4th gear just quit working and I got home on 1,2,& 5th.. Thank God..

Yes,, it was hard to race anyone,, even though my car ran soooo good in Vegas.. and it sounded great going up Freeway On Ramps.. 1-2-5tttttttthhhhh...

I guess a good question would be,, should I tear it apart before sending for parts.. I'm just trying to get a few things before hand..

Don,

I may not be giving you the advice you want, but I think I'd replace it. A new one is just a little over a grand and good ones can be found in the bone yards for much less, right?

This is a project that I also have to do, hopefully in the spring for my 86GT. Second gear for me - very embarassing when taking people for a ride.

According to the Mustang GT registry the World Class T5 was introduced in 1985, although early 85s may have had the 84 non world class T5 transmission.

A junkyard trans comes from a junkyard - you may win but may get something that has really been pounded on! I want to drive the 86 I play with the 68! So with rebuilding at least you know what you have.

My options are to get it done localy, buy a new one ($$$$) or do it myself - therefore I too am interested in what kits have yielded good results.
