Here's a question from a real newbie, who's just run his first official quarter mile on a pair of South Side bars bought just days before Alex posted about them being, well, not great! I know they are not regular traction bars, and I'm just wondering if this behavior is normal. I get great grip for the first ... oooh ... 10 meters, and THEN the wheels start spinning. If I had a regular set of traction bars, the spin (if there was any) would come in right away, wouldn't it??? Thanks, Simon

I too bought southsides a year ago and have not yet put them on,so I too will be watching this post. How did you like that tranny manual I sent you. That was a lot of work I had to scan 30 pages put them into word then change each one to pdf so you could get them, but any m&m Member is worth it. Bruce

Lordy, I did remember to thank you, didn't I??? I really appreciated that. The rebuild project's not due up until Spring. It's not the same car as the one with the South Side bars. I'd started shopping around for info early 'cos the engine rebuild manual I ordered took two months to arrive! I'll let you know how it goes.

Simon,You need to get the front of your car up to transfer weight to the rear tires. I think your front end is coming down to quickly and unloading the rear tires. 90-10 shocks, weight in the trunk, remove the swaybar, get weight off the front of your car etc. SteveW

Yup all what Steve said helped my car a lot. I've run the south side bars for some time now. Mine made the ride more stiff. And it made the car handle better too. One thing I think they do is shock the tires to much off the line. At least my car I think they do. From a rolling I spin the tires. But once I get going off the line and get traction it does not spin anymore.

You are using slicks aren't you? If the tires can't grip then anything that plants them harder can be wasted.Other things are the track prep, from the looks of the Phillipine drag racing websites the races are on asphault without the concrete launch pads that US tracks have. That will change how you need to set the car up.
