I have a Mighty Demon 650 DP on my '68 Fairlane w/289. I had a Holley 650DP first that I had big problems with. Though, the problems I had were likely because it was set up wrong and I didn't have the knowledge at the time to get it right. My second carb was a Road Demon. It was much better than the Holley but still a probelm. Misses and stumbles at differnt RPM's no matter what I did. I tried the BG tech line and they were little help. I was going to go with another Holley but after I got off the phone with Holley's tech line I realized they also were no help. So I settled on the MD 650DP. IMHO it is just like a Holley only made much nicer. It works pretty much the same, uses many of the same parts but the fit and finish is top notch. The MD 650 I now have runs great, no stumbles no misses. It ran great when I bolted it on and the few adjustments I made made it even better. At $500 I thought it was a bargain for what I got.HTH, B-loose

That's a matter of opinion.
Personally, I wouldn't trade a cheeseburger Happy Meal for a Demon carb of any kind. Especially considering the best "out of the box" carb is still from Holley, but has HP tagged on the name.

yup kv, thats the biggest problem with a holley. people wont take them out of box and try them. most of the time they will work great with just an idle adjustment. but for some reason, they want to tear them apart and start changing things first.------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.51 @89mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/billswebsite/pg06.html

I would trade it for a happy meal then sell it and buy a few big kids happy meals at Burger king instead. LOL< Bruce

Ok, how about I re-phrase that.... They've both made good carbs and they've both made not so good carbs. I know too many guys going superfast with the Demon carbs to say that every Demon is not a good carb!!!!!! That's a fact. [This message has been edited by CometGT1974 (edited 12-06-2003).]

I've used both and it's not like comparing apples to apples. The Demon carbs are air flowed differently and do not compare on a cfm to cfm basis to a Holley. You'll have to use a smaller Demon to get a comparable cfm performance or rating of a Holley. Currently running a 650 Speed Demon with vacuum secondaries and running 9.70's @ 134 mph.------------------ Ted E. Fe's are plenty fast, but "Y"'s are fun when they run in the nines.
