Ordered a Lunati Hyd. cam off of their fall sale page. Turned out to be a really good deal. Ive settled on the hyd for my ride, due to setting the valves is a major PITA. Long story, but Im runnin TFS TW heads, Hedman headers. I have to pull the driver side header off to run the valves. Big Bi!!!. Sick of that. Anyway, my question is what are the variables that need to be controlled as best as possible in order to obtain max rpm potential from the hyd. stick? Retainer weight, pushrod weight, pushrod length, etc? Also, what brand/style of lifter (besides the way over priced Schubecks) performs best at high R's? One more, anybody know who makes a 13/4 header for a 70 Mustang with a 351W and the price of them?

Thanks

think you must use mech. cam if you want higher rpms. because when the engine oil get hot the hyd. lifters cant pump properly they can pump out at high rpm use.
because of this i take out my old comp cam flat tapped hyd cam (541-544,240-246 0.050,110lsa).and put 280r mech roller comp cams (608-612,242-248 0.050,110lsa).
roller is a another world, it truns too fast, like nos shot

The headers you need are the Hooker Super Comp #6208.

von, what kind of rpm are you planning to turn? the stock ford stuff with some decent springs should go to 6500 with no problems.

Capri Man,

I figure the motor should turn around 6500 or so. 10.25 comp, Victor Jr, 235/245 545/576, 108 lsa Lunati, 750 VS Holley, etc. Just wanting to ensure that I do as much as possible to get the r's to 6500.

Von,
I ran a Lunati 292 cam a few years ago. It came as a kit with Lunati lifters. It saw the backside of 7000 rpms many times without giving up. CCA 120# single springs, roller tip rockers, and 1/4 turn preload. It wanted to rev so high that it forced me to upgrade my ignition coil.
