Part# TFR7

http://www.tubularheaders.com/index.html (click on 'race car headers')

1-3/4" competitionn headers for 289-302 engines using windsor style heads. They come with adapter plates as well... and can be had with 3" or 3.5" collectors. Price is $450

They also have 1-7/8" headers for 67-70 mustangs.

I've never heard of these!

Anyone ever seen a set? Alex?

Thanks!

Geez i know a couple guys that wanted those and seems they weren't available. JBA used to make a couple different sets of 1 3/4" also. One set had the front tubes go under the crossmember the other set had tubes routed similar to normal 1 5/8" headers .

I must have recomended these headers as a serious alternative to customs 100 times Mike. They (Tubular Automotive) have been difficult to deal with at times from what I understand. I never had any problems.
I have installed several sets. Mark Tallent has them on his car. FIt is decent for both stick or auto.
Best (and only that I know of) "box" competition big tube header available for early Mustangs. Tube numbers 4 and 8 exit through the shock tower though.
They also have Cleveland headers for early cars.

Sounds like that's what I should've gone with instead of the Hooker 6208. Anyone know of any pictures of these headers?? Alex, what exactly has to be done to the shock towers to make them work on a Mustang?? I didn't have to do much to get the 6208 to work in the Comet.....

How much cutting needs done there? Do they just need 'notched', hacked all to hell... or do the shock towers literally need holes for the tubes to pass through? Do they interfere with the tires? And lastly... is there enough clearance and all for these headers to be remotely streetable?

Thanks Alex!

You will actually need to use a hole saw/sawzall and cut a 2.5" prox hole in each shock tower. Tubes number 4 and 8 will exit the holes and loop around the front sub frame in the wheel well and join the collector under the car Mike.
They hug the frame rail tight towards the back and won't interfere with the steering as long as the tire/wheel combo is not "road race" wide.
The reason for this is two fold.
1) Maintain equal length
2) Get as straight a shot out of the port as possible.
Ground clearance is acceptable.
They are very streetable. You will need to fabricate some collector flanges or use some slip on mufflers/reducers.
I'll see if I can get Mark Tallent to post some pics of his.
They are far superior in performance to the Hooker SC's and well worth the extra installation effort.

Thanks again!

My motor is out so I dont have any installed pics but I'll take some pics of them on the floor tomorrow. Like Alex said these are the best off the shelf headers going, Unless you have $1200.00 and a need for that very last tenth you probably don't need custom headers.

Here you guys go.

Dissregard the monster collectors. Those are not the ones that come with the headers. That is a "Mark" creation that is WAY too big.
Nothing under 400 inches needs more than a 3 inch diameter collector.

Hey I took the extensions off, Excuse the Drivers side pic we need to do some cleanup. Also the drivers side hole was a mistake the hole should look more like the passenger side. You will also notice the adapter plates in the first two pics sitting above the headers, Also they don't come coated.

Those look great. I recall seeing some for sale at a swap meet once and without the adapter plates i was puzzled. The seller didn't seem to know what year "smallblock Mustang" and i assumed late model for the J302 heads or something.
