I swapped out my 270S for a 282S...

WOW

For a hot street/strip 4 speed car, it's gotta be about the best (flat tappet) smallblock camshaft for the application. It dosen't hit quite as hard below 3k rpm as the torque-monster 270 did, helping (a little) to keep it hooked up. From 3k and above... hold on

750dp jetted 73/80, 3.5 pv, timing locked down at 34* it's just about right. Once I come up with a scattershield, driveshaft loop and hopefully stickier tires, I'm at the track

I've only spun it 6500 (limiter at 7k, didn't hit it on the first test drive), and it didn't quit pulling at all
The 270 would definetely start running out of steam around that rpm range. The fuel mileage sucks oh well

Sounds like you're gonna have your hands full when you finally get it to the track to see what you've got! I've been wondering what she will do in the 1/4.

Oh baby, you can say that again

It's a handful now, even as traction-deficient as it is on ice skate radials! Hey Dan, what was that great compound you stumbled onto not long ago?

I too am most curious to know what it'll 1380' at

That's pretty funny!!

Todd, the Firestone Indy 500 is what I'm using for everyday driving now and they are almost as good as the BFG drags were. Mileage and price is way better!! I use a mild launch to raise the front and load the traction bars, and then I usually stay hooked after that.

Here's a users survey of some average all-season performance radials. The Indy 500 is at the top of this list.

Glad to hear it worked good for you. Just what you needed MORE POWER.
That motor will never be short on low end or any end kick you in your seat power.

Dubz email Todd about the cam. I'm going with the 282s too.
