I swapped out my 270S for a 282S...WOW For a hot street/strip 4 speed car, it's gotta be about the best (flat tappet) smallblock camshaft for the application. It dosen't hit quite as hard below 3k rpm as the torque-monster 270 did, helping (a little) to keep it hooked up. From 3k and above... hold on 750dp jetted 73/80, 3.5 pv, timing locked down at 34* it's just about right. Once I come up with a scattershield, driveshaft loop and hopefully stickier tires, I'm at the track ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

I've only spun it 6500 (limiter at 7k, didn't hit it on the first test drive), and it didn't quit pulling at all The 270 would definetely start running out of steam around that rpm range. The fuel mileage sucks oh well ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

That's pretty funny!! Todd, the Firestone Indy 500 is what I'm using for everyday driving now and they are almost as good as the BFG drags were. Mileage and price is way better!! I use a mild launch to raise the front and load the traction bars, and then I usually stay hooked after that. Here's a users survey of some average all-season performance radials. The Indy 500 is at the top of this list. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/pas.jsp ------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.86 @ 116 mph (7.62 @ 93 mph)daily driver! Glad to hear it worked good for you. Just what you needed MORE POWER. That motor will never be short on low end or any end kick you in your seat power. Dubz email Todd about the cam. I'm going with the 282s too. ------------------
