My 351W is lower compression 74 motor, and will be about 8.5:1 with the heads milled

would a 50-100 shot of the funny stuff be allright on the cast internals? or does anyone forsee any problems i might have.

I'm pretty sure everyone remembers what i'm running but you can click the link in my sig for more info

You can get away with 50-100hp shot. just make sure your tune is dead on.... Timing and fuel delivery is what turns n2o into a welding torch. Anything above a 100hp you at least need forged pistons. Good luck.

i was leaning more towards a 50 shot since it would be cheaper and last longer on a bottle fill

buy the super powershot kit... it's adjustable from 50 to 125 hp.... great kit... I used one up until I went with my Cheater kit.. just make sure you have a good ignition system and adequate fuel delivery...

From what little I know about nitrous oxide, it's (really simplified) like injecting pure oxygen into your motor. This allows you to deliver ALOT more fuel, resulting in very high combustion chamber temperatures. Heat is horsepower! Cast or hyper-whatever pistons are living very dangerously as they are NOT designed to withstand that kind of cylinder temp and pressure. If you've got a stock shortblock, I'd have some kind of timing retard provision in your plan to keep your motor from disassembling itself.
Nitrous injected motors DO require wider top piston ring gaps. The heat is so intense, they grow and butt together, snapping the crown of the piston right off at the top ring land. Not good

I'm not bagging on nitrous use. Yes, I see the pros and cons to it, it's just that push-button power isn't my thing. I'd rather build high compression power that dosen't run out

I would like to do the same thing as well, but figured a 50 shot would be well within the capabilities of a low compression motor like mine (for now anyway). I know that for bigger shots there is a big risk of damaging the engine, but thought i'd be safe with a 50

and the digital 6 has a timing retard for nitrous

Like I said Dubz....stay under 100hp and you'll be fine. I've used n2o on 3 engines so far without damaging one. The first one was the original 71 302 that can in my car... cast pistons and all!! The super powershot kit did no damage at all other than take me from 14.2's to 13.50's for 2 seasons @ 75hp setting. The 2nd one had forged flat tops and went 12.7's n/a and 11.9's with a 75 hp shot. It was sold and still survives after 5 years. The current bullit is the original block with Carrillo rods, cast crank and 12.5 to 1 forged pistons. With the heads at 50 cc's I'm about 13 to 1... 11.8's all day and 10.70's with a flick of the switch!!!!!!!!! I have stiil yet to run more than a 100 hp shot....

The super powershot is 100-125-150 if i were to get extra jets i could go lower. I was looking at the edelbrock stuff today thier performer kit only costs $350 and is 50-75-100

Also looked at the Msd window switches, so that if the rpms climb out of the window you want to spray in it shuts it off. Had any experience with these? Looked in the summit cat. and it shows Nitrous Oxide Systems makes the switches as well
