I was wondering how well Cleveland 4V heads respond to being supercharged. I would think it would eliminate the problems with fuel drop out at low intake velocities. Couple that with EFI, and this should make a screaming engine, no?You don't seem to see many supercharged or turbocharged 351Cs. How does a 408ci Cleveland 4V, with a Vortech and Spyder EFI set up sound? ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

I know for a fact that they respond GREAT to supercharging. Especially with a Roots blower. Those big ports and valves just love the extra forced air. Back in the later 70's and early 80's there was a team with a blown 351C TAD that dominated the class in NHRA. It kicked the Hemis asses regularly. Dennis somethingorother????????? I think his name was. So much so that NHRA imposed a weight penalty on the 351C. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! No doubt, but I wonder if you could use a blower to really build bottom end torque. I'd want to use a centrifical blower to keep it all under the hood.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

Centrifical blowers are much like turbos in that they build boost as the rpms go up. I wonder if a Kenne Bell autoroter type blower can be made to work with a carb?

Steve,I'm running between 10-12 pounds of boost. I was always used to having low gears and high stall to get any bottom end out of the 4V Clevelands. I now have 3.50 gears and 2,500 stall and it destroys the BFG drag radials off idle. Patrick

That's a lot of boost. No problem with head gaskets? What is your compression ratio?------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

I'm running a little under 8 to 1 compression. I haven't had a problem with head gaskets yet.

Steve, 351C's respond very well the blowers. Check out this link, they actually make a good bit of stuff for them. http://www.kenlowe.com.au/KLRC_Ford351.htm JS
