I finally settled on the engine combo i want to build, except for the cam which seems to be the grey area in engine building,351C .030 over, 4V quench, 11:1 comp, C6 3000 stall, 4.11 gears, torker intake and 800cfm holley. in a nutshell. would this cam work for me? Crane part number 521211 570/590 lift 246/256 @.050 108 c/l Lifters 99257-16 this is going in a 69 coupe with full interior and is a "street" car but i would not mind a lumpy cam, as long as i go fast. thanks Aldo [This message has been edited by '69PonyRider (edited 11-24-2003).]

You must decide if you want a solid or hydraulic lift first.

I'm running that exact cam you specified in your first post. It's kind of lumpy, but not as much as my previous one. I won't make much vacuum, if that is a concern (it wasn't for me). I'm still in the process of getting the car to the track, so I can't give you any performance data; but that is a very popular cam and many people here have run it before, so feedback should be on its way. The problem I'm having right now is too small a converter, at first I thought it was an improperly tuned carb, due to being an absolute dog off the line, after talking with some people here, I determined it was my converter. Once you get into the power range of that cam... wammo tire melt.

I run a cam of the same duration and similar lift. It is plenty "lopey" and has gone 11.15 in a 3025lb car. I would think you might want a higher stall speed if you want to optimize it for drag racing. My engine combo is very similar to yours, "in a nut shell". ------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 351C 4V
