This is the best pattern I could get... with a 0.021" shim and 0.009" backlash. I hope it will be fine. It's a new 3.89 Motive Gear ring and pinion on a 31 spline T-Loc in a 'N' case using a Daytona pinion support and solid spacer. It will be going in a very cool tubbed out, but stock looking 460 powered 70' Ford truck. I hope it's quiet.

Looking at the heel (coast) side, it may hum a bit on deceleration... but a 460 will probably make enough noise to conceal it ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

I'd like it to be a bit deeper personally, but I think that with the "good" 3.89 ratio you will probably see more tire noise than differential noise.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! The 'coast' is what I was worried about, since it patterned a little close to the toe (inner radius) of the gear. The guy at MAE www.maeracing.com where I purchased the R&P, install kit and T-Loc clutches said he would have liked to see it installed a tad deeper (0.018" shim) but it all worked out. My bud installed it in his truck, and it doesn't make a sound. He's totally happy with it. MAE has some great prices on Ford installation kits, etc. The master kit (including R&P) costs only $239. (look under R&P kits at the site) It comes with everything needed to install the gear including all bearings (Timken), shims, gear marking paint and brush, new nut, crush sleeve, seal, o-ring, ring gear bolts, housing gasket, etc. A solid spacer to replace the crush sleeve is a $10 upgrade. Daytona pinion support bearings are a $14 upgrade. Trac-loc clutch kits that include the combo plate along with all fiber clutches and steels are $43.99 He is available on the phone to answer questions, and service is good. He said he would take the R&P back if I couldn't get it a pattern to suit me. Good Luck! ------------------ Mike Burch 66 mustang real street 302 4-speed 289 heads 10.63 @ 129.3 http://www.geocities.com/carbedstangs/cmml_mburch.html http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/healey/367 http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?220 [This message has been edited by n2oMike (edited 11-13-2003).]
