If I get my motor done then I want to get a new convertor and rear gears too.
I was thinking of going with 3.80 gears and a 3000-3600 stall. What are your opinions on this ?
The car will be driven on the street about 90% of the time. And I hope to take it to Sac a few times a year. Which is an hour and half drive from Reno. I don't mind driving alittle slower on the highway.

This is the same crap I have been going through, I've got a 10" in mine and it does not stall anywhere near 3500 it more around -3000, is it good for driving on the street? YES, does it make power over stock? YES, does it make the car go fast? NO

If you do replace the 3.40's, I would be interested in the gears if you do not keep them. Thanks, Charlie

With convertors, you get what you pay for. If it's cheap, it wont be worth a d**n. Cheap convertors are just that, cheap.
That is the wrong place to try and save money.

Rob I understand what your saying. But whats a good price for a good 10" convertor. I really don't know a lot about them. So I don't know good brand from a bad brand. The I have now is a non brand name that my trans guy likes to use.

Stay fr far away from GER brand of converters. I run an ATI in my stocker and have been very happy with it.

Charlie when I change then I'll give Ken first call. And if he's already got the gears I'll remember you asked next. Yes they aren't the best gear for racing but great for cruising around town. They helped a lot over the 2.80 gears I had before. I can't wait to see what the 3.80 gears will do for the car.
