I know some here do not like the engine simulator programs (Engine Analyser and DD2000) but I like to play with them and see 'what might be' while not totally believing all I see. One interesting change I have made to my 'combo' on Engine Analyser is simply to retard the cam (CC XE268) and with each retard, I see more top end power and sometimes at higher rpm, with a corresponding loss of low-end torque. This is a sizable gain in power, maybe 20-30 horse or more and seems to go up with more retard, like 8 degrees or more. Anyone actually tried this and seen a boost in power?
Cheers, Martin.

Without mentioning any names, I've seen that a certain crate engine supplier regularly sets up their cams with 6 deg retard. I'll leave it to others to pass judgement on the practice.
