Hi Guys first time I have posted in this forum, I hope to be running my 66 coupe Sunday week (19th) at Santa Pod (one of our few drag strips over here) as long as I get my log book (title of ownership) in time. I have dragged bikes before but never cars. So any tips would be helpful. It has a 302, with a Holley, 4 speed toploader. So I am not aiming my hopes to high, but just want to give it a shake down before I start modding it! Cheers Steve

Steve cars are easy after racing bikes. For my the first few times. It was more about staying claim and paying attention. Not flooring it off the line. Trying to get my times consistent. Like with shooting guns smooth is fast. Good luck have fun, and make sure to post how it goes. I raced my old street bike a 750 Katana ONCE at a track. Never did it agian. That was to much for me.------------------ SCOOP 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

Well I have got my log book, so as long as the weather holds for Sunday, I will be hitting the strip.Scoop I raced bikes for a while; the best time was 10.34 with a 136 terminal, not too bad for a street legal bike on pump gas. Mike I intend to have a laugh. Cheers Guys

Good Luck Steve.......Its a blast in a Car......(can't say bout a bike...never rode one on the strip.....just out to my girlfriends house to help HER strip... ) Smooth shifts.......consistency......it takes considerably more "practice" with a hand shaker (a manual tranny)...than it does an automatic.........sit in the yard with a chock in front of the tires...(or just set the emergency brake) and go through the motions....release clutch hammer loud pedal....grab another gear.....repeat as often as necessary.....with your eyes closed if possible..........(By the way....the above "practice" is with the engine OFF!!!!!!)

Ditto here! I have the best teacher in the world. I will continue to learn, but the second it is not fun, it stops. Life's too short. And I add: Be safe! ------------------ Beth Hey - did ya hear? Hi Guys & Girls, Well I hope to be able to shift better, as I am fitting a Hurst shifter as the original shifter was like stirring rice pudding! I definitely intend to have a laugh Buster the bike is a Harris Magnum III with a Kwack engine, total custom build frame. 1175cc, 8 plug head, Dyana S Ignition system, MRE locker clutch, and lots of other goodies, the last time it was on a dyno it was producing 195bhp at the rear wheel. Well I will let you know how I get on Sunday. Steve
