Memory fading away,anyone know how to figure degrees of overlap using opening & closing figures?

yeah Bob, but I'd almost have to draw it out on a piece of paper. I always do this that way I get a better idea of what's happening. the overlap will be close to TDC. You need a piece of graph paper that you can draw the events out on. Start at 180 degrees before TDC, mark this point BDC. Now mark TDC 180 marks later, then go 180 more marks and label this point BDC again. Now fill in your timing events for the intake valve, then the Exhaust valve. Now look at the area where they overlap close to TDC, You can count the marks and come up with the amount of degrees the two valves are open at the same time during the cycle! Probably clear as mud I am no good at explaining stuff. I think comp cams has a good example of a chart like this on their web page. JS
